Wedding Gloves
Wedding gloves require special attention to detail. Typically, you want your gloves to match the color of your gown: white gloves with a white dress, ivory gloves with an ivory dress, and so on. As well, most brides prefer to match the material also, although some choose alternative fabrics like leather, silk, matte cotton, crochet (which is very popular this year!), velvet, and sheer. Whatever your choice, gloves of any length can heighten the elegance and drama of any wedding ensemble, but there are rules of etiquette that must be followed. The bride should wear her gloves for the processional, but take them off for the ceremony if she is wearing short, wrist length gloves. Long, elbow length gloves, however, usually remain on during the ceremony and are often equipped with a open seam on the ring finger that allows the bride to expose just that finger for the ring ceremony. The ring should never be placed over the gloved finger.
